Nine millennials sat down beneath the new moon on January 28, 2017 and converted their energy into words. We externalized our internal spaces. With this project, this revolutionary act of creative group catharsis, we examined which truths of the moment were desperate to be communicated. For the next two weeks, Revel Empire will present what happened when we sought to interact with and understand Now.

What are the preoccupations and anxieties of the moment? What are the thoughts that run through your head when you think about Now– and all its uncertainties, all its traumas? Does Now feel like a beginning or an end? Is it both? How would you communicate to others the unedited realities of your current moment? What are the words and symbols that represent our individual experiences of a collective moment?

For this project, we took a sample of the collective consciousness by examining our individual pieces of it. For 24 hours on January 28, 2017, beneath a new moon, we met in a google document for a digital group-writing activity in which we responded to the words Now and Next, after a brief self-guided meditation activity. The following content, which we’ll post between this moment and 2/26, were our responses to “Now”. The corresponding videos were recorded by participating members of the collective over the week following our experiment. What this experimentation produced is a representation of a moment in space and time.
